paydirekt and giropay merge to form the new giropay – please swap logo

The German banks and Sparkassen are merging their digital payment methods giropay and paydirekt, with the new giropay serving as the new umbrella brand since May 12. A transitional logo replaces the previous paydirekt-logo until the merger is complete. The giropay-logo remains unchanged for the time being.

For you as a merchant, there will be no changes to the technical integration and commercial processing for the time being. Both payment methods remain fully functional without you having to intervene actively. We will inform you as soon as there are any changes.

Suppose you have integrated paydirekt in the checkout of your webshop. In that case, you as a merchant already benefit from an additional feature of the new giropay: While in the checkout, your end customers can now choose whether they want to pay as usual with paydirekt including buyer protection or without registering via online bank transfer using the giropay procedure.

If you provide classic giropay in your checkout, nothing changes for you as a merchant or for your customers yet.

For your customers to find the new giropay (still paydirekt, in transition) with its advantages, you should update your logos and checkout wording as soon as possible. During the transition phase, please use the combined paydirekt-giropay logo.
