Corporate Social Responsibility

Computop takes responsibility

A livable environment and a colourful society - that's what payment people want. But how can this be achieved? For us, it means taking action. That is why we have been a member of Leaders for Climate Action since 2020 and are committed to regional and international environmental and climate protection projects. To promote art, sport and culture, we also support local associations and institutions.

Tweyambe Secondary and High School

For climate protection to work, the local people must always be part of it. This has been achieved with the Tweyambe School in north-western Tanzania: since 2021, we have been supporting pupils to be able to attend Tweyambe School. In the newly established technology branch, they will learn how a photovoltaic system works and how it is maintained. This way, the students can maintain both the solar panels on the nearby island of Kimbumba and the system that the school will soon receive.

CO2 balance for 2021

This year we have again diligently collected data, evaluated it in our carbon impact calculations and thus determined our CO2 footprint. To compensate for the emissions we cannot yet avoid, we support a climate protection project in Soacha, Brazil. In addition, we have been able to implement various internal projects for CO2 reduction – while offsetting is important, reducing comes first.

Açaí berry – more than just a super fruit

Otherwise known for their health-promoting effects, açaí berries protect 86,000 hectares of rainforest in Brazil. But how does this superfood become a climate protector? In the forest area that is part of the Ecomapuá project, the farmers of the region can plant the açaí palms and sell the harvest obtained from them. This alternative source of income makes the preservation of the forest more valuable to them than the profit generated by deforestation. Moreover, the palm fits into the ecosystem of the forest. A real super-food.

  • Green Software Design Community - software for climate protection

As a founding member of the Green Software Design Community we want to make our core product Computop Paygate, a little bit greener. Because even though it is invisible, software can also pollute the environment and have an impact on the climate. Together with the community, we are now considering how our software can be improved by exchanging ideas and learning from the experiences of other companies.
