In today’s digital age, the fintech world is moving ever faster, driven by a constant willingness to innovate and customer desire for convenience and security. Computop has been an innovator in the payment industry for 20 years. The company is taking this year’s anniversary as an opportunity to look at the developments in payment processing.
E-commerce, m-commerce and wallets – an innovation in payment processing does not always need to involve new technology, but it does have to ensure convenience for the user in omni-channel environments. Following this vision, Computop – a pioneer in payment processing – has been developing individual, tailor-made, forward-looking solutions for 20 years.
“We developed Computop Paygate in our student flat-share in Bamberg in November 1997 and made a name for ourselves by providing the (at the time) latest but complicated SET security standard as a service,” says Ralf Gladis, CEO & founder, looking back at the beginnings of the global payment service provider. He adds: “Right through to the present day, we continue to offer innovation, security and convenience in payment processing. We are currently working on biometric authentication solutions: a timely response to growing demands for security and convenience.”
After two decades in the payment processing industry, the global player is well-equipped to tackle the digital requirements of the future and is consistently pursuing its vision as a provider of payment technologies, with customer focus and independence being top priorities for them.
“For 20 years, we have continued to grow without any money from investors. Because we make our decisions completely independently, we are able to implement solution-oriented technologies for our customers quickly and neutrally. We intend to continue with this approach,” says Stephan Kück, CEO of Computop, emphasising one of the core values of the Bamberg-based company.
Looking ahead to the next two decades, the payment experts expect payment processing to develop, influenced in part by the Internet of Things, into an often-automated process that runs smoothly in the background. Only payment methods that support fully automated processing in the background will have a future. Drawing on its wealth of experience from the past 20 years, payment service provider Computop will continue to consistently build on its market position internationally by providing outstanding global, networked yet flexible payment solutions.
